Main Block and Facilities Development

Developing & enhancing TGS's Infrastructure

As anyone driving down Lake Road past the school over recent years will know, the Main Block structural refurbishment project has been underway for many years. This has meant that hundreds of our senior TGS students have walked around a scaffolded and wrapped building for years, but never walked the halls or had classes in the building. With the completion of this project, our students and staff are once again part of the history of this important heritage building.

The Main Block, which on its own was allocated millions of Government funds in 2015 to provide a modern learning environment and meet upgraded earthquake-proof structural standards, has taken seven years to complete, from the initial planning stages. The Government has also provided millions more to refurbish and upgrade other buildings across our site. In addition, with funds from the TGS Board of Trustees and PTA, interior fitouts have been completed, and the sports facilities and outdoor areas have been further developed. The result is a positive example of public and private money coming together to drive an exciting redevelopment of the TGS school facilities and site.

Future Developments

TGS is very keen to further develop the unique TGS site to meet the joint needs of the school and the community for the future.

As a starting point, the following projects have been approved by the Board of Trustees and are in the final planning stages. While approved, these projects and/or their starting dates will be reviewed due to general uncertainty arising from the national impact of COVID-19.
